About Journey Crafts

My name is Jacob Fryer and I’m the owner of Journey Crafts.

I live in a little town called Gerringong situated on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. 

Ever since I was a young grom, I have lived for surfing and completely immersed myself in the surf culture. I have always been inspired by the alternative and strayed from the mainstream. My first custom Fish was when I was 15 years young after being inspired from Dave Rasta and Ozzie Wright.

I always aim to have the most fun when I surf and riding the right board for the right conditions is how I do it. This gives a lot of head noise in the car park whilst trying to choose from my extensive quiver I carry around in my van. But having the right board in the right waves makes it all worth it.

Fish’s, Logs, and everything in between, whatever it is to get me in the water and keep the froth alive is what it’s all about.

I’m so passionate about all surf crafts and riding the different designs with the right approach is so important to me. I started out building boards for myself and friends around home, and now with a lot of hard work and thought put into my designs, I am stoked to see where the boards are at today. 

I strive to make the perfect board. I vigorously design, shape, test and ride all the models that I put out. I love creating something with my customers and seeing them get the most of out of their surfing.

My love for using my hands to create as well as my love for design, art, style, and appreciation for the old and new, and of course being a surf addict who is obsessed with surfboard design for as long as I can remember – All of this combined was the inception of Journey Crafts.

Journey Crafts are high-end custom-made surfboards designed and made start to finish by me or are finished by the finest glassing shop in Australia, Rhino Laminating. I’m so grateful to be working alongside some of the best craftsmen in the industry that share their deep knowledge and have that same passion. 

I’m continuing this journey by pushing my designs further and building the brand, bringing together like-minded individuals to the Journey Crafts community with fun and performance at the forefront.
